What specific qualities of information are most useful when we are concerned with reducing information overload for healthcare professionals. (answer must be 20 lines)
Information overload occurs when the amount of input to a system exceeded its processing capacity. Individual have fairly limited cognitive processing capacity so when information overload occurs it leads to reduction of decision quality. Information overload is the term associated with excessive quantity of daily information. Characteristics of good quality information are * Accuracy : Information to be accurate to reduce over load. If in accurate data or information it was time consuming in decision making. *Completeness. Missing information from the data cause wrong decision and it take time to correct. *Consistency.: Consistency is key of quality. *Uniqueness. In order to add value to any organization,information must be unique and distinctive. *Timelines. : New and reliable changes to information need to updated to improve the quality.
To avoid information overload * Keep things simple. The less information you present - the easier it is to understand. * Maintain clear and relevancy of information. * Provide supporting information.If too much data is given pro its reference. * Provide balanced information. * Make it clear what is to be done with the information. * Make it easy for the user to take action.
