It's important to recognize the warning signs of stress especially in older clients or clients diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Stress is an individual's reaction to a negative or threat stimulus .

Physical symptoms of stress:

  • pain
  • low energy
  • loss of appetite
  • diarrhea or constipation
  • loss of libido

Emotional symptoms of stress:

  • depression
  • anger
  • loneliness or isolating
  • anxiety
  • loss of memory
  • low self esteem
  • sadness
  • suicidal thoughts

Behavioural signs of stress:

  • insomnia or sleeping more
  • eating more or less
  • smoking , alcohol consumption, consumimg more sleeping pills

Try to find any underlying cause for pain , less energy and appetite .

Try to analyse the connection between the threat or stressor and feeling to smoke, eat more or little , insomia.

Try to find a solution for the problems with help of friends or children or siblings.If cannot be solved get a help of a counsellor.

Be calm and feel positive .

Avoid stressors or trigerring situations

Get help of medical professsionals

Engage in leisure activities or hobbies
