Healthcare industry in early times was very much dependant upon
the manual and mechanical power to deliver medical services like
diagnostic tests abs drug delivery. The medical records, billing
and patient records also involved a lot of paper work. But with
increased developments in the informatics most of the work done in
healthcare sector is completed through information systems and
electronic systems.
- The relationship between informatics and access to helathcare :
Informatics have developed various technologies such as computers,
mobiles and tablets. The patient and doctor can use these devices
to communicate with each other even when far away. This has helped
by providing a greater access to healthcare services even at
comfort of home and in remote areas. The patient and healthcare
workers can communicate through audio and video calls, chats,
messages and emails.
- The relationship between informatics and cost of healthcare :
informatics has developed various applications amd systems that has
reduced employment of man power. This has considerably reduced the
costs of healthcare. Also use of smart application and systems has
reduced the manual errors which previously called for repeating the
same tasks again and again to recyify an error. This has also
reduced cost of healthcare. Information technology has also deviced
many diagnostic equipments that provide accurate diagnosis thus
detecting a disease early. This results in early recovery and
shorter stay in hospital reducing the cost of healthcare.
- Improved diagnostic methods and better treatment options provided
by latest information technology system has resulted in accurate
diagnosis, early recovery and shorter hospital stay. It has also
reduced the rate of readmission. This has greatly improved the
quality of healthcare.
- Informatics has helped in storing the patient information,
medical records and billing in more organized and safer way.
Informatics has developed systems which makes the billing easy. All
this has led to increased coverage of healthcare services by the
insurers.
