5 Cultural competency is the improvement in communication between providers and patients through the awareness of culture.Cultural competence is an essential element for providing quality care.When the health care providers accepts varied cultures and close the gaps in health status then we can say for sure that the patients right is maintained.It helps in improving patient -provider relationship,lessens medication errors,increase patient satisfaction and shortens hospital stays.Whereas health literacy is the ability to obtain ,process and understand basic health information and services require to make decisions.Health literacy is the strongest predictor of an individuals health status.Poor health literacy results in poor communication due to limited knowledge.
