Jack Andraka's invention of a dipstick for cancer; write a paragraph, how do this invention connect to the larger more disenfranchised group of people who still cannot access a primary care provider?
How does the work of the Bill Gates Foundation inform people who have difficult access to care as described by the Camden Coalition and the National Center for Complex Care?
Question 1
Jack Thomas Andraka’s born on 8th January 1997, is an American university student, inventor, and cancer researcher. He has invented a non-invasive method of detecting pancreatic cancer and other cancers in the year 2012 when he was just a 15 year old. This award winning project consisted of a sensor, similar to diabetic test strips, for early-stage pancreatic cancer screening. The sensor, consisting of filter paper coated with single-walled carbon nanotubes and antibodies against human mesothelin, was said to measure the level of mesothelin to test for the presence of cancer in a patient. This device was 168 times faster, less expensive, 400 times more sensitive than ELISA and 90 percent accurate, in detecting the cancer protein called as mesothelin, found in pancreatic cancer and other most of the cancers.
As this is a cheaper and more affordable hence it would be beneficial for the group of people who still cannot access a primary care provider
