is the solar system isolated
Concept required - An isolated system is a system the total angular momentum has to remain conserved
Solution-
An isolated system is hypothetical model. But in real life and ideal isolated system can not exist. Now the solar system is affected by external gravitational forces by so many other galaxies in our universe. Thus it can not be isolated. Our system can be gravitationally bound to the local groups, which in turn is influenced by some other groups in the galaxy. Now naturally this means that there is an interaction between the sun and other members of our galaxy.
However if consider the solar system in itself only, then it can be treated as an isolated system if the effect of other cosmic objects is considered as negligible, but then it is a very ideal case...a hypothetical one.
Hence we can conclude that overall the solar system is not isolated for all practical real life purposes.
