3. Recall Mohammad from the beginning of Chapter 37. Now that you have completed the chapter, answer the following questions regarding his case.
1. Why is an accurate measurement and recording of Mohammad’s vital signs critical in this case?
2. After examining Mohammad and ordering and reviewing the results of an ECG test, Dr. Williams indicates that Mohammad’s heart appears to be normal. What factors might be contributing to Mohammad’s episodes of tachycardia?
3. The physician is going to give Mohammad an injection and needs to know his weight in kilograms. You measured his weight as 140 pounds. Convert this weight to kilograms.
Though the case is exactly not provided but I guess these questions can be answered on the normal basis of medical understanding.
1. An accurate measurement and recording of Mohammad’s vital signs is critical because the accuracy of these measurements often indicates physiological state or the present health condition of the patient and can help in determining the underlying disease, abnormality and deterioration.
2. Tachycardia is a medical condition when the heart rate of an individual is abnormally fast due to some underlying problem or any heart related disorder. There are many factors that contribute to episodes of tachycardia. Some of them are -
So, in Mohammad’s case, one or two of these factors might be contributing to episodes of tachycardia.
3. Mohammad’s weight = 140lbs
To convert it into kilograms simply divide the given weight by 2.205 i.e. 140/2.205 = 63.5029 or 63.5kg (Approx)
Since, 1kg = 2.205 pounds
