What is lobbying? What role does it play in the relationship between government and business? How does it relate to our lives. Explain

Lobbying refers to an activity which brings individuals or a group of people to infuence the decisions made by the government. Lobbying is sometimes unavoidable in some political systems.

The relationship between businesses and government under lobbying is as follows:

i) Control the economy- As the individuals or groups come together to express their opinions in the form of debates and conversations which cannot be overtaken, they are meant to be heard by the government. If they find that any business organisation's environmental impact or any other reason is not welcome, they make sure that the government takes relative action.

ii) Involve media- Media is like a weapon. In lobbying, the more noise the media makes, the less the lobbyists are heard. Therefore, they should know how to control it. This is because, it is done by business organisations which is why it should look professonal. And, there should be a way of talking to the government.

iii) Make a path- It should not just be a corporation making the noise against the government. The facts will be ignored and it will look more like a pleading or asking for favours. Lobbying here helps to make a way to raise the voices of individuals seperately.

Coming to the role of lobbying in our lives, it has a positive as well as negative impact. Lobbying gives people, the power to petition their government. On the other hand, due to corrupt lobbying, people may stand for a wrong cause, which is in turn not beneficial for them as well as the economy.
