Discretionary information: Discretionary information refers to that information which is not mandatory by any law or authority. Discretionary information depends on individual or management. Discretionary information gives an overview of organization.
step: 2 of 2
Three examples of discretionary information for university can be as followed:
1. Universities are looked in their admission of fresher and the retention of fresher after a year.
2. Universities are also looked in fee for three - five year courses and introduce some new courses.
3. Universities are looked in cost incurred during research and the ultimate result of research.
Above mentioned all discretionary information can be analyzed under the information system of university. All discretionary information cannot be published by universities but these types of information may be useful for university, therefore university maintains the information system.
Cost incurred to maintain the information system is based on the methods and technology adopted by university.
Hence, the benefit associated with information system is more than the cost incurred to maintain the information system.
