Do you believe labor unions help or hurt the economy?
I strongly believe that labor unions help the economy. For any movements their will be both advantages aswell as disadvantages. But in the case of labor union, I believe that they do a lot of benefits for the economy. The reasons to support my statements are as follows :
The economy of a country could only grow if the productivity and efficiency of the labor are improved. A satisfied customers are more productive to the economy than an unproductive labor force. Labor Union are organisation collectively formed by a group of people inorder to support the needs and wants of the laborers. They help workers to negotiate regarding their wages and salaries and fight against the inequalities against them. If no one is there to support the laborers then they will be exploited by the employers.
Union help laborers to get their portion of share from what they have contributed to the economy. When the laborers are paid proper wages and given good facilities they will work harder to produce more output which atlast will only help the economy. Unions are the ones who helped workers in United States to get facilities regarding health care and schemes like pensions. If unions are not not there the employers will not pay proper wage and reward for the workers which will impact the economy in its productivity. Union also provides schemes to reward those workers who help in improving productivity which will motivate the laborers. Motivation the key element for increased productivity.
