A union  is labour organization which is formed by workers in a specific trade or industry where they have a representative who work for welfare of labourers and negotiate with the employer.

Advantages- -

1. It provide protection to worker by promoting higher wages , social security benefits etc.

2. It helps the labourers to get good working condition and prevent them from exploitation.

3. They settle disputes and complaint

DISADVANTAGES-

1. To become a member of Union it is necessary to pay dues fees and they sometimes forces them to join their union.

2. Sometimes it may lead to hostilities between the labour and management relationship.

SOCIAL JUSTICE - Labourers are one of the vulnerable population of an economy and labour union helps in providing social justice to them . They promote social justice by promoting good working condition , safe and healthy environment of workers . The trade union provide a security to labourers and they create a cordial relation between management and labourers . They raise their voice if they found any exploitation of workers. For this purpose ,many organization like ILO and others have been set up to create safety of workers.

DOLORES HUERTA and CESAR CHAVEZ are activists who work for the Labourers of California . Huerta was the co-founder of Agriculture Workers Association ,1960 , and during her work she met  Cesar Chavez . They both realised that the two shared a common goal . There main aim to was improve the lives and wages of farmworkers. Specially in California where the farmers were exploited and don't have good working condition.

They found that farmworkers are exploited and paid less and work for whole day

They form United Farm Workers Organization Committee and fight for the social justice of workers They promote and active in lobbying for laws like

1. They signed a three year collective bargaining agreement for protection of farmers, by advocating the right of farmers.

2. The farmers were allowed to speak their own language Spanish.

3. They struggle to make labour access to safe drinking water, access to good and protective working environment.

4. They made many organizations who work for lives of farmers like California Agricultural labour relation act 1975 .
