1.Order is 15 mg morphine IM
5ml vial is available
1ml contains 15 mg
So we will administer 1ml of morphine.
2.Order is heparin 20,000 units IV
We have a vial of 10 ml in which there is 10,000 units per ml
So we will administer 2ml to the patient.
3.Order is 25mg per ounce every 6 hours
Available is 50mg/ounce
Since one ounce=30 ml
So 50mg/30ml is present.
So 1ml contains 5/3mg
So 25 mg will be available in 15 ml
So in one dose 15 ml is given
In 24 hrs 15×4=60 ml is given
4.1tsp=5ml
To be given is 2tsp that is 10ml every 4 hrs.
So for each dose 2×5=10ml is given
In 24hrs 6 doses will be required
So in 24 hrs 10×6=60ml
In 24hrs 60ml is required to be administered.
