Explain one or more ways nurses can become involved in setting and auditing patient care standards or participating in other quality control/improvement activities within their organization.
The quality of nursing care can be managed by evaluating the degree of excellence of results of delivered care and by taking actions for the improvements that in future will result in high degree of care. Maintaining standards and nursing audit becomes an important tool for the quality managment. A nursing care standard helps to evaluate quality of nursing care which will help to improve the professional performance. Process standards help in assessing the standard of skills with which techniques are performed, and degree of patient involvement , interaction between nurse and client helps to make professional judgement in determining quality of nursing care and skills.Setting of standards are observable,attainable, and measurable. It identifies strengths and weakness and take actions to correct those deficiencies, review the effectiveness of those actions through an audit protocol helps to improve the nursing standard. The success of standards depends on the effective of nursing care and satisfaction of patient and quality of nursing.
