Why is it so hard to meet both requirements of good illumination and good resolution for endoscopes used in medical applications? Hint: core diameter
We know the important role of endoscopes and endoscopy in medical field.Endoscopy is used for determining several problems inside our body where there are limitations for a doctor to understand.Endoscope is an illuminated optical and turbular instrument used to look deep into the body and used in procedures called endoscopy.Endoscopes use tubes which are only a few millimeters thick to transfer illumination in one direction and high resolution images in real time in the opposite direction, resulting in surgeries.
It is hard to meet both requirements of good resolution and good illumination for endoscopes because we need high quality materials to use in endoscopes and the price will also affect the quality of materials. For example if we take two cameras with different specifications, the image from one camera will differ according to the lens used and the pixel density and many other factors which are familiar for the people in this field or people who have gained knowledge in this field.Like this good illumination and good resolution in endoscopes depend on the material used and it is hard to meet this requirement due to the issues mentioned above.
With the use of advanced technologies we could obtain good illumination and good resolution, but the factors have to be mentioned for meeting this requirements such as financial needs.
