CHALLENGES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY IN GHANA

People with disability in Ghana face lot of issues like discrimination and social exclusion.The Government of Ghana has comeup with lot of policy to overcome the issues.There are many challenges faced by the disable people in the Ghana which include all dimensions of life .They face problems in their day to day life to live the life with the exisiting disability and the over 5 million of Ghanaians have disability ranges from physical to mental disabilities.

ISOLATED WITHIN FAMILY,COMMUNITY ETC.

1.SUPERSTITIONS

Superstitions are common in society especially in asian cultures but these false beliefs can effect the society in a negative way from olden days supersitions are associated with medicines.These supersitions will stop people from a independant life and put them in bars of scares about everything.The beliefs related to treatment may cause life or more problems as they think each condition is a demon spirit and they act cruel towards it.

2.IGNORANCE

The people in Ghana tend to ignore everything and go behind which not acceptable.This ignorance and carelessness most time lead them to more suffering and misarable life.The disabled ones are ignored by the Government and others.

3 FEAR OF DELAYED DEVELOPMENT

These attitude towards life mostly caused by cultural and societical influences of the people.The presence of disability will lead to fear of development and other problems.The child and the parent who belongs to family with disability may develop fear of life and proper development.

4.ISOLATED FROM THE FAMILY

The disabled person have to face ignorance from the family itself.The lack of knowledge or money will lead to ignore the people with diability in a corner rather than taking care of them.And those diasbled ones end up in isolated life .

5.POVERTY

Poverty will the main difficulty that faced by these group of people as the members are disabled and earning to the family become to low for livelihood and treatment of the family members also have to be met in the same time.The people in these place live with lot of pressure for their daily life.
