What do you feel are essential aspects of a good nurse-client relationship?

What are your concerns or fears about mental health nursing in general?

In general the concern or fear in mental health nursing is the patient's behaviour may be unpredictable and bizzare . They may become violent anytime and also dangerous .

Are you interested in mental health nursing, or do you approach the topic with some anxiety?

Thinking mental health nursing is a study of unpredictable behaviours and mental illnessess makes us to feel anxious about how to care for a patient with uncertainity of illness. Mental health nursing has higher levels of uncertainity that is we donot have clear picture of the issue.Through experience we can acquire cognitive skills to handle the unpredictable behaviours. Mental health nurse also provides care to a normal person .

What do you feel are essential aspects of a good nurse-client relationship?

Active listening to patient's cues,body language ,verbal responses and effective communication are more essential aspects of a good nurse-client relationship. Giving due respect ,practising confidentiality , clarifying their doubts and encouraging patient responses will build trust on the nurse.  

Please include an example of how you established good rapport and a good professional relationship with a patient in the work or clinical setting. What nonverbal and verbal techniques did you use in this relationship?

Always act professionally. I willnot interfere in any patients personal verdicts or decisions. Donot think patient as your friend or relative. Provide good care and help them in improving their mind , health. Donot give false reassurance.

Active listening, eye to eye contact , give responses while patient is speaking out, clarify his doubts, Encourage him to express his problems.Donot make any poses or expressions which may make the patient feel bad.

Build trust and confidentiality to give good care to patient
