Describe how the endocrine system is different from the nervous system the other control system of the body. (Please answer in ~250 words)
Endocrine system and nervous system both are the control system of the body but there are significant differences between two.
(1) The main difference comes in the form of mode of transmission of their respective signals. Endocrine system uses hormones which are chemical messengers. They travel from the origin to target cell through blood stream. Whereas nervous system uses the network of neurons to transmit the information in the form of electrical signals.
(2) Endocrine system works slowly. It releases hormone into bloodstream where they diffuses and reach the target cell through blood. Whereas nervous system response quickly due to the presence of neurotransmitters.
(3) Most of the responces in case of endocrine system are permanent whereas they are temporary in case of nervous system.
(4) Since endocrine system works with the circulatory system the responce is spread widely. On the other hand responces are localized in nervous system.
