Identify three vulnerable populations and the special restrictions associated with human research among these groups. Evaluate the requirements and restrictions. Do you think they are adequate? Why or why not?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Certain population are not considered for various research purposes due to the certain limitations presented by these groups which may not be efficiently recorded for the results and conclusion of the study. They include peadiatrics, geriatrics, coma patients , people with mental and physical disabilities etc..Of these lets us consider three population among them:

a) Coma patients : These patients are presented the loss of conciousness and are unable te respond to various stimuli.A proper research requires the reciprocating to the various parameters considered in the study.Since an effective response cannot be obtained , the results will not have their authenticity. Therefore, they are not adequate for the study.

b) Geriatrics : Geriatrics are presented with declining body functions and usually show a wide range of diseases. The metabolic and other physiological processses are not efficient as that of the adult population. The requirements for a proper clinical study should ensure the population which gives the maximum result. Therefore, they are not adequate candidates for physiological studies .

c) Mentally impaired population : These population also vulnerable because impaired brain functions can affect the way they respond to various agents and thereby the kinetics and effects.
