Solutions

Expert Solution

The immunological technique that was being used to fight Diptheria , and also being used today to fight COVID-19 is generating antibody against the virus and then transfusing it into the patients affected via the virus in case of COVID. In case of Diptheria it was generated unisg the toxin as the organism affecting was a bacteria. they generated the antitoxin ( antibody ) in horses which were infected with the toxins first. It can be knows as antibody therapy / anti sera therapy.

in case of COVID they are taking the blood from already infected humans and seperating the antibody generated against the virus by the our immune system to fight against it. And then injecting it in the infected indivisuals who are still affected . The antibodies goes and bind to the infected cells and helps activating the immune system to kill the destroy the cells. Also they create immunity for any further reentry of the same virus, the create memory B-cells which stay in our blood stream and fight against the same infection if occurs later again in life.
