What role do electron transport chains play in the synthesis of ATP in respiration? What role do electron transport chains play in the synthesis of ATP in photosynthesis?
Electron transport chain play an important role in the synthesis
of the ATP in respiration and it will take energy stored in the
NADH and FADH2 which are formed during Krebs cycle.
It converts it to the chemical bond in the form of ATP. NADH and
FADH2 lose electrons and helps in the formation of ATP.
This process takes place in inner mitochondrial membrane in
eukaryotes and this process takes place in the plasma membrane in
prokaryotic.
The electron transport chain also play an important role in the
synthesis of ATP in photosynthesis that is it takes the light
energy .
The light energy is converted to chemical bond energy in the form
of ATP and NADH.
Photosynthesis takes energy from photons and uses it to build
complex molecules.
Photosynthesis electrons enter the transport chain after receiving
the light energy.
Thus the electron transport chain helps in the synthesis of ATP in
cellular respiration and photosynthesis process.
