Define Pre-Prophase Band (PPB) and its role in cell division in plants. How does TAN1 play into that role?
Pre- Prophase Band- It is a cortical array which is made-up of actin and microtubules which forms in higher plants cells which takes place between the late G2 and early mitosis. It is the first microscopically visible sign that which enters in the plant cell of the mitosis.
The TAN 1 is known as tangled-1 gene. The role of this gene in cell division is to positioning the Cytoskeleton array which help to establish the planes of cell division during the stage of prophase.
