WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA TO BE PLACED ON THE TRANSPLANT LIST FOR END STAGE RENAL DISEASE?
WHAT OTHER RENAL REPLACEMENT THERAPIES A PATIENT COULD BE EDUCATED ABOUT?
WHAT ARE THEIR ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES WITH THE TRANSPLANT?
When the kidneys stop working it may result in the renal at chronic disease condition level. This is referred as the end stage level. Hence this end-stage renal disease results in accumulation of toxic waste by-products in the body. Thus to manage such conditions there is requirement of either dialysis or transplantation.
The cases of the end-stage renal disease are associated with the patients having the diabetes mellitus, glomerulonephritis, high blood pressure and other severe problems of the urinary tract.
This kidney transplantation is supported by the life-long dependency on medicines to keep the new kidney healthy.
There should be patient education programmes regarding the hemodialysis at home.. there is need to educate the patients regarding the post transplant risks of getting infection and how to take the proper medication at proper dose. Then the patient is required to be motivated to handle the condition well after the renal replacement therapy.
Advantages of the kidney transplant:
Last choice for the patient to be live, having end-stage kidney
disease.
Can improve your quality of life
Less time consuming approach
Disdvantages of the kidney transplant:
Sometimes there are chances of immunosuppression
There are risks of organ rejection
long usafge of medicine is required
