A 52-year-old patient with End-Stage Kidney Disease related to alcoholism needs a kidney transplant. The patient’s identical twin sister, who is in good health, has agreed to donate one of her kidneys. Both sisters were admitted to the same hospital for the procedure. Initial Discussion Post: Address the following: • What is the RNs role for the kidney recipient in the immediate post-operative period? • What is the RNs role for the kidney donor in the immediate post-operative period? • Are there ethical considerations associated with this kidney donation? Explain. • Should the sister be financially compensated for her donation? Why or why not?
First check the initial factors of the organ acceptibility. Like blood group. In this case the RNs are suggected to follow the guidelines of the Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994. And this is the case of live donar hence there is need to hhave a consent form from the donal and asusure that there no violation of the rule. Then RNs are advised to disclose the risks and benefits associated with such kidney transplantation to both donor and recipient.
As per the law of fundamental justice her sister can donate her kidney after the fulfilling some regulatory guidelines need.
In this cas there is no need of financial compensation to the donation as she is her real sister. But if see demands such then it can be as in case of other donal. As the ultimately the priime goal is to save the patient.
Hence after assurance of the some ethical parameters the fial decision of the kidney transplantation should be made.
