1.Privacy is viewed as the right of the individual patient to be
let alone and to make decisions about how personal information is
shared.privacy rights with respect to individual healthcare
decisions and health information have been outlined in court
decisions, in federal and state statutes, accrediting organization
guidelines and professional codes of ethics.
*Confidentiality is recognized by law as privileged communication
between two people in a professional relationship, such as with a
patient and a physician, a nurse or other clinical professional.
patients expect confidential communication in these relationships.
While application in legal proceedings is subject to evidentiary
rules and consideration of the public need for information, support
of privileged communication can be seen in case law.
*disclosing the health information to other than health care team
leads to losing the confidence of the patient and also voilating
the privacy right of the patient which is unethical.
2. discrimation-its not ethical to show discrimination in providing
care in health care settings,which is included in code of
ethics.
3.Duty of care also expected by the patients/organizations, and any
negligence by the nurse and the pysician/health team can be leads
to unethical issue and law suits once proven.
4.Madatory reporting of the patient also mentioned in the guideline
of professional code of ethics.Failure of reporting the patient
is,neglecting one patient to provide services.
5.Translation services,which is needed for the patients in helping
to understand the services provided by health care team and taking
consent for those services(informed consent in local
language).
6.informed consent-explaining the need for the procedure and the
possible complications of particular procedure,it will be explained
clearly and with willingness of patient and family the procedure
will be carried out in the treatment setting.
7.work role boundaries-responsibilities and limitations will be
given by the professional code of ethics,violating the ethics leads
to misconduct like accepting the gifts/rewards from the patients
and failing to maintain the nurse-patientrelationship etc.
*Employee's can refer the issue to the government labor agency
when the employer creating the problem related to person's right's
and responsibilities like personal/sexual harrassment,causing
harming to physical/mental health and leading to sickness.
-Employers can handle the situation by taking to board members and
giving the written warning ,suspension and removing from
services.
-clients can approach through greivance cell regarding the issues
of person's rights and responsibilities.
