There are several public health programmes focusing on the reduction of disease like diabetes, HIV/ AIDS, asthma and heart diseases.
Diabetes prevention programme was organised by American diabetes association to provide an explanation and description of highly successful lifestyle intervention.Major goals of DPP were lifestyle intervention and weight loss or maintenance which were achieved by means of life coaches, frequent contact with the participants, a structured state of art 16 sessions core curriculum that taught Behavioural self management strategies for weight loss and maintenance , supervised session of physical activities, maintenance intervention and motivational campaign, individualisation by toolbox adherence strategies , extensive training network training feedback and clinical support.
UNAIDS conducted HIV/AIDS prevention programme which are based on HIV Prevention intervention that aim on to stop transmission of HIV. HIV programmes aimed on prevention of transmission and through combination of Behavioural and biomedical structural strategies, high risk persons to contract HIV /AIDS were conducted by department of control and prevention of diseases.
Department of control and prevention of disease also conducted programme on Asthma (national asthma control and prevention) emphasise on impact of asthma , helps to understand asthma management and gaining control over it , population at risk and asthma triggers.
Department of control and prevention of disease also conducted programme on state heart disease and stroke prevention which promotes the use of guidelines for primary and secondary prevention of heart diseases and stroke. Increasing asses to quality care in frederally funded community health centres to eliminate cardiovascular diseases.
