The redistricting affects the whole voting patterns and the total outcomes of election as the main the primary goals of the gerrymandering is to maximize all the effects of the supporter's votes and also to minimize the effect of opponents' votes. By redistricting districts, a political parties would be able to maintain or gain the whole legislative control by ensuring that the opposing party's voters are not the majority in the specific districts.

According to me, as many people think that gerrymandering is a the significant problem as if the alternative measure of gerrymandering gaining popularity is the Efficiency Gap. As instead of focusing on individual gerrymandered districts, the method compares the voting power of each political party in the state.
