• How does Epistasis affect the outcome of genes?

• How does Epistasis affect the outcome of genes?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The epistasis means the outcome of one gene which is dependent on the presence or absence of one or more genes like it is a type of gene interactions when one gene mask or modified the expression of another gene at distinct locus.

Any gene that mask the expression of another non alleic gene is epistatic gene and the suppressed gene is called hypostatic.

Eustatic can affect the expression by affecting the expression of mRNA or protein of onther gene's product as for example, suppose purple colour is developed by enzyme B from red product and red product is produced from 2hite product in presence of enzyme A and white product is the primary .then if enzyme A is not present then purple product will not be produced because enzyme A is necessary for converting Red product to purple product.

So, may the one gene's product can be TRANSCRIPTION factor of onther gene 's or some thing that helps in expression of another gene's expression

Genes often interact with one another. The term epistasis is applied to cases in which one gene alters the expression of another gene that is independently inherited. In Labrador retriever dogs one gene locus is involved with production of melanin pigment: B (black) and b (brown) are its two alleles. Another gene locus determines whether the melanin produced is actually deposited in individual hairs as they grow (E) or not deposited (e). Any dog with at least one dominant allele...

1 A) How does epistasis differ from Mendel’s principle of dominance? 1 B) A woman who owned a purebred albino poodle (an autosomal recessive phenotype) wanted white puppies; so she took the dog to a breeder, who said he would mate the female with an albino stud male, also from a pure stock. When six puppies were born, all of them were black; so the woman sued the breeder, claiming that he replaced the stud male with a black dog,...
