What role does the turns-ratio play in transformers?
Turn ratio means the ratio between the primary and secondary windings which is used to produce either a step-up voltage transformer or step-down voltage transformer with the the ratio between number of primary turns and secondary turns.
It can also perform impedance matching function and establish a good relationship between the primary and secondary windings impedances. It is also used to divide the primary voltage by the desired voltage.
