There is one particular scene of last (24th) episode of 8th season in which a complete misunderstanding was created just because of the situation & environment.

The most interesting part of misunderstanding was that no one has said anything to anyone.

Friends is a very beautiful story of six friends living together as family, sharing love with each other. They beautifully represented the actual glimpse of friendship and love in their story, how a group of young adults living together become so important to each other, influencing each others life and supporting each other in the best and worst situations of their lives.

The 24th episode of 8th season, where Rachel gave birth to her baby.

After when she gave birth to her children, she feel lonely & Insecure and terrified because of the whole idea that she and her baby are going to be alone.

Then, her friend joey tries to comfort her and tells her that she will never, ever gonna be alone while she was crying.

Joey hugs her as a sign of support that he will be there for her and tell her not to worry.

Then, he goes towards a sofa chair to get the tissue papers which were present under the Ross coat for Rachel as she was crying, but while getting the tissues ring box fall from the Ross coat on the the floor & to get the ring box Joey bends his knees and in the same position he turns around towards Rachel and show her ring , but Rachel misunderstood him and thinks that he was proposing her.

But, in reality, Joey was just trying to show her the ring which he thought Ross brought for her.

This small scene depicts the How body language of a person, situation and environment can tell so much with even saying anything verbally.

Hugging someone even without saying anything is a sign of telling someone that you are with them.

There are some specific signs of nonverbal communication-

Facial expression - in the scene the facial expressions of both Rachel and joey were very significant, Rachel's expression after watching the ring represents the relief.

Body language & posture - Joey’s posture , bending on one knree was the biggest reason for the misunderstanding and rachel's mind.

Kinesics - The whole gesture of joey towards Rachel including hugging, patting on the back show his care towards her.

Eye contact - during this whole scene, the eye contact between Rachel and joey remain intact, which represents the closeness of the relationship.

Appearance of the whole behaviour of joey and situation was very illuminating towards her feelings that he had for Rachel.

There are many episodes and many scenes in the whole series where the used non verbal science hand gestures for the communication.

But this particular scene, I found the most Conclusive as an example of non verbal communication.
