Discuss how a committee on ethics within a hospital changes practices. How are those changes implemented and incorporated into new practices? How are those changes communicated to patients and families? How do nurses throughout the organization learn of the outcomes of ethics committees’ discussions?
Hospital's ethical committee is consisting of physician and other health care workers along with the boar of the directors and secretaries. This is a common practice to set such committees in the US. These committees emphasis on the safe and effective delivery of medication as well as providing a cost effective and safe therapy to the patients. This is responsible for managing of the ADRs if any.
It also sees the matters of the budgets and its implementation.
Apart from these key responsibilities it also focuses on implementation of new practices in the therapy. And for the implementation a proper planning is done then the nursing staff is trained to implement such plan in coordination with the other staffs. They also communicate with patients and their family members regarding the implementation of the new practice or the technique in the therapy. All these practices are performed as per the ethical guidelines. And throughout the organization the nursing staff learns the outcomes of these ethical guidelines and effectively implements these in their nursing practices. Hence by utilizing such ethical committee plans and the guidelines the nursing staff makes it feasible to implement along with the discussion with patients and their associated family members.
