summarise the arterial flow of the lower limb
Main artery of lower limb is the Femoral artery, the external iliac becomes the femoral artery when it crosses the ingunial ligament, the common femoral artery gives rise to the epigastric artery, the external pudendal artery, superficial circumflex artery and the superficial femoral artery (SFA).
The Popliteal artery is the direct continuation of the SFA in the adductor canal, the popliteal artery terminates into the anterior tibial artery and the tiboperoneal trunk. the anterior tibial artery continous through the interosseous membrane to reach the anterior compartment of the leg and passes into the dorsum of the foot as dorsallis pedis artery, the tiboperoneal trunk divides into peroneal artery and posterior tibeal artery, the posterior tibeal artery enters the sole of the foot through the tarsal tunnel, it than splits into lateral and medial plantar arteries, these arteries supply the plantar side of the foot and supplies to the toes through the deep plantar arch.
