Mark either Incorrect or Correct

1.This subject's elastance is higher than normal.

2.

This subject's time constant is greater than 2500 seconds

NORMAL AIRWAY RESISTANCE :

airway resistance is the resistance of the respiratory tract to airflow during the inhalation and exhalation .airway resistance can be measured using body plethysmography.

- normal airway resistance is estimated at 2-3 Cm. H20/l/sec.

- airway resistance Can be increased in the respiratory problems

Normal values for the both dymamic and static compliance are 60 to 100 ml/cm /h20 . if the static compliance increases suggest an acute increses in airway resistance and can be assessd further by comparing peak pressure and plteau pressure.

in above qustion :

1. answer : correct .when subjects elastence is highr than normal automatically airway resistance is increased.lung compliance decreased .

2. This subjects time constant is 2500 seconds is true

3. Subjects having emphysema : (correct ) the lung compliance is increased in the chronic obstructive diseases such as emphysema ,.airway resitance is Increased.

4 answer : incorrect ,when FRC increases the lung compliance increases .
