You are working at a community health fair performing
routine blood pressure screening and find that a 60-year-old
African-American woman has blood pressure of 150/90 mm Hg. The
woman is overweight and says she leads a sedentary lifestyle.
Besides cardiovascular disease, what other disease is the woman at
risk for? What preventive health measures should you encourage her
to pursue?

Kidney diseas/ failure, stroke, vision loss( glucoma), dementia,
High blood pressure causes hardening of blood vessels of kidney may leads to kidney failure, it can leads to stroke by the damage of blood vessels due to high blood pressure.
Blood flow gets limited due to narrow bloody vessels leads to certain type of dementia.
High blood pressure damage optic nerve and damage light sensitive tissue and leads to permanent vission loss.
Difficulty in the concentration.
Risk related to obesity- when person BMI above 30is comes unde the category of obesity.
Obesity leads to diabetes by making body non reactive towards the insulin.
It can also cause heartburn, gall bladder stones and liver problems. Body comes under the risk of cancer.
Osteoarthritis is occur due to obesity, when stress blaces on the weight bearing joints. Which promotes the inflammation of the joints.
Complication related to sedentary lifestyle
- obesity, high blood pressure
- high cholesterol levels, stroke, muslce loss,
- osteoporosis, feeling of depression and anxiety.
Disease related to ageing
- neurological changes which may leads to dementia, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's.
- digestion problem like heartburn, constipation etc.
- musculoskeletal- osteoporosis, osteoarthritis. Muscle weakness
- EENT- diminished vission, cataract, glucoma, decrease hearing ability.
It always prevention is better than cure for any disease.
Client should take some measure to prevent any disease associated with obesity, high blood pressure and age.
- she should add exercise in daily 30minuts.
- addition of health Nd fresh food. High calorie and low fat diet with dietary fibre.
- reduction of bad carbohydrates and bad fat in the diet. Addition of dryfruits special walnut for Brian cells health.
- monitor weight and bp regularly
- low sodium diet.
- do involve in social group for mental health and motivation for good health.
- do meditation and yoga
- early to bed and early to rise.
- lower the stress level and spend time with family and friends.
- don't consume alcohol and smoking.
- take a adequate sleep.
- take a plenty water for improvement of energy and brain function.
- come for checkup on regular intervals
