Expert Solution

1. A carousel is a rotating machine system held by a stationary stand.

The use of carousal technology in pharmacy automation is increasing day by day. It is an automated pharmacy retrieval system. It is used to efficiently manage the pharmacy inventory. It hrlps to increase the productivity of pharmacists and reduce errors in administrating and dispensing the medication.

2. Automated dispensing system are computerised storage devices for medicine used in dispensing of drugs.

Centralized dispensing systems are placed in central pharmacy unit and filling and repacking is done by robots. They are easily supervised.

Decentralized dispensing systems are placed in patient care units. They are difficult to be supervised and need cameras.

3. 5 rights of Medication-Use Automation are used for safe medication practice. They are :

  • Right time : adhering to strict medication schedule is important
  • Right place : keeping the medications in correct patient care unit where they are required.
  • Right patient profile : administering the medicine to the patient with appropriate and suitsble profile for medication
  • Right product
  • Right standards : following the right safety and control standards

4. The purpose of Pyxis® CUBIE pocket are :

  • Maximize medication security
  • Rapid initiation of medicine orders
  • Reduce medication errors
  • Conserves time
  • Increased medication storage capacity
