What are your thoughts on potential payment of collegiate athletes? If you are for paying athletes, what does the system look like? How do you keep the "haves" from completely dominating the "have-nots?" If you are against it, why? At it's highest level, "student-athletes" make millions of dollars for their institutions yet receive financial compensation that pales in comparison to the revenue they generate.
I think college athletes should be paid because of the hard work and effort they keep for winning in sports and bring name and fame to college. According to me it is like an incentive which colleges are giving to their students for the hard work and effort they are keeping to bring name and fame to the college as not everyone in the college will be performing at that level to get payment from college.
The main thing one should understand is that by paying the atheletes college is clearly encouraging people in sports which is a good thing and also it will inspire to other students also to play. College atheletes if they percper very well in competition it will bring name and fame to college which is a reputation for the college. This payment is a scholarship for the services they are providing for the college by representing the college in sports events. Colleges will even advertise these people and earn revenue from them. So it is like they are sharing profits.
The main problem is that students who are working this much hard are getting less amount than what institutions and coaches make. This can be seen at any highest level and this should be seen by institutions as they are earning money and fame because of these atheletes. Colleges should give salaries to these employees on monthly rather than payment which is a good way to treat their hard work and these colleges only should pay the taxes of the atheletes on the salary they earn.
