Firstly we need to understand that what exactly made Amazon to acquire Whole Foods, and the answer to this question takes us to the marketing plan that we have to present through this question. SO the answer is that Amazon now focuses on more into vertical integration, more frequent buyers alot of Consumers Data, its physical presence (stores), brand buiding and creating brand loyalty. That will enable amazon to be on extra edge against its competitors.
The marketing strategy of Amazon through Whole foods would be simple. The strategy would be like a cross over matrix. It would be of Deep Penetration into market (through opening of many more branches of Whole foods/ physical stores) secondly doing more into vertical integration that means coming across with its own brands that serves the customers, thridly churning out the data collected through its own stores and using them in increasing the revenue by selling the additive items, and also providing a guidance or creating a need for the customer for the items. Through the data collected Amazon would be able to help the customer in delivering the doorstep items which is just about to finish it at consumer's home. This will delinght the customer thus will adds on to the brand loyalty and brand building.
