• What is the main protein in plasma and what is it’s
function?
• Where are plasma proteins made?
• How is hematocrit measured? How is it effected by dehydration?
• Describe the structure and contents of an erythrocyte.
• How do the contents of an erythrocyte differ from those of other
cells?
• What is the function of erythrocytes and how does anemia effect
the body?
albumin is the main protein about i.e. 55% of total protein and its function is to maintain and create oncotic pressure also transport insoluble molecules.
all plasma protein are synthesised in liver only gamma globulin are not synthesise in liver.
now we can measure hematocrit by an automted analyzer and calculated by multiplying the red cell count by the mean cell volume. hemocrit values increases in dehydration condition.
erythrocyte is biconcave, anucleated, diameter 7-8micrometrer and salmon coloured and it contains haemoglobin, enzymes and iron.
erythrocyte contains haemoglobin that carry oxygen from lungs to different parts of the body, and carbondioxide from different parts of the body to the lungs. due to deficiency of iron anemia occurs that causes headache, dizziness, chest pain, cold feet, etc. due to lack of haemoglobin heart has to more work to transport oxygen rich blood all over the body
