What is the main function of mRNA?

What is the main function of mRNA?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer-

According to the given question-

  • We know that DNA is present in the nucleus and responsible for controlling the cellular activity as well as gene expression , because DNA --> mRNA ---> protein which is a gene product, is Called central dogma.
  • So DNA converts into mRNA by the process of transcription with the help of enzyme DNA dependent RNA Polymerase inside the nucleus and transfer the information to mRNA.
  • After RNA Processing in case of eukaryotes mRNA comes out of nucleus into the cytoplasm and  travels to ribosomes, Where mRNA which contains codon as triplet was decoded into amino acid sequence during  translation in cytoplasm with the help of tRNA attaches to mRNA helping in building the amino acid chain. tRNA have anticodons, complementary to mRNA codons and carry amino acid to mRNA .
  • So main function of mRNA is to pass the information present in DNA into Amino acid sequence which means that it work as intermediate between DNA and protein .
