- Automobiles
- Toiletries
- Medical products
- Clothing
- Steel
- Kitchen products
- Furniture
- Toys
Health challenges:
- It may damage the wellbeing of humans and other species. For
example, manufacturing plants wastes can pollute drinking water
supplies or poison plants and animals. It may interfere with natural
processess. For example Pollution of the sea will affect the people
who are involved in the fishing and tourism industries.
- Soil pollution is a result of land degradation, and it is
caused because of human made chemicals as result of industrial
activity, the improper disposing of waste and various agricultural
chemicals.Soil pollution poisons agriculture and sometimes kills
local vegetation.
Some examples of industrial wastes are chemical solvents,
pigments, sludge, metals, ash, paints, sand papers, paper products,
industrial by products,metals,and radioactive wastes.
Researches and Examples
- A study was carried out in Oman to assess the link between
environmental exposure and health. The study aim was to assess the
health effects in a popullation of less or more than 20years of
age, living in the residential area around the Sohar Industrial
Zone. Results showed that people living within the high and
intermediate exposure was associated with a greater risk ratio for
ARD-Acute Respiratory Distress, Asthma,Conjunctivitis and
dermatitis. These findings hope to contribute to building up
evidence for environmental health and sustainable development
policy in the country.
- A study was conducted in Bommasandra and Jigani industrial
areas , Bangalore, India during the period of Feb 2011 to May
2011.The study was conducted among human beings with an age group
of 18 to 55 yearswho were living around the area. The results showed
that about 40 to 70 persons with an average age of about 35 yrs who
were exposed to air pollution for about 10 hours per day and with
no family history of breathlessness, were selected for the study
.The study results showed that people developed eye and nose
irritation, skin irritations, respiratory problems.
Based on the above examples it is important to develop
local policy:
- which should encourage manufacturing of the plants away from
residential areas. And also to protect the lives of sea inhabitants
all chemical, industrial wastes should not be dumbed into the sea
as well on the soil or ground.
- Proper Education and training has to be provided to the owners,
workers , redidents regarding the illeffects of Industries ,
- Pollution control certificates has be obtained by the
Manfacturing plant every year.
- Manufacturing plants should be held responsible by providing
compensation to people if any health hazard happens.
- And the manufacturing plant has to be shut down if an
complication arises.
