What might be some ways to reduce violent offending among the young (under 15)?
Delinquency studies focussed on children who are in their adolescent when the delinquency usually peaks.However these behaviours start as early as they are young below teens.There are three types of children ,children showing disruptive behaviour who are at the risk of offending,other child delinquents,children who have commited one or more acts like assaullt,homicide ,robbery.Children who show persistent disruptive behaviour and serious aggression are more likely to become offenders in the future.There is a predictive relationship between problem behaviours in preschool and later conduct disorder and child delinquency.Important development skills are taught during this period and if they do develop,they weaken the foundation for a child.it is always not in the case such children will become offenders but early intervention and prevention can help offending in later years of life.The preschool period is very important for a child .A child in preschool develops temparemental characteristics such as regulation of moods and socialization among children. Delayed language development may put a lot of stress on the child not wanting to socialize due to self esteem,Attention of caregivers,mother or early years of intervention and developing good habits and learning morals at this stage is very crucial.Children need to be reared in a healthy family evironment and healthy sorrounding. Parenting style can affect the children where in environment where there is substance use ,poor ethical standards,history of family violence.A child's school environment has to be good such as improved defined rules for conduct.Televison and video games which show violence have a impact on children.Children who often watch television showing violence pose a threat to becoming offenders at later stage .A good environment is essential for a child as he is growing to provide sound mental health.
