What are genes and genetic diversity? What is the relationship between genes and evolution?
1. New species emerge when the ancestral family of animals divide into several groups with some changes(genetically) and this process is termed as speciation.
2. During the natural selection animals or offsprings with better survival skill are able to survive and reproduce and their best traits are passed to the next generation, it leads to the high frequency of particular traits, this favours the evolution.
3. Genes are constitent of DNA, it have an important role in heridity and have the capacity in creating particular character in an individual and it can also be passed to the next generation. Consider a population of particular species, there can be number of genetic traits, total number of genetic traits in that population is the genetic diversity of that population. Genes will undergo some changes due to mutation, natural selection, these changes in the genes are passed to the next generation and soon, will cause evolution. changes in the gene leads to genetic diversity and it cause the evolution. New genes will emerge in the animals due to the evolution.
