Discipline is the process of teaching type of behavior is acceptable and which is not acceptable. In other words, discipline helps a child to follow rules. Effective discipline positive reinforcement, modeling, and and supportive family.

Sometimes, negative reinforcements like punishments are also an effective tool-but that doesn’t mean that good discipline is mostly about punishments. This may have serious consequences on child development.

In certain circumstances parent choice to discipline their child shape the way they view themselves.  Harsh discipline may result in opposite .Parents can use rules and limits to promote or Reinforce desirable behaviour .All children want parental attention. Helping child to become self-reliant, respectful, and self-controlled, the primary responsibility lies with parents. Following healthy discipline strategies helps

  • Show and tell. Teach children right from wrong with calm words and actions.
  • Set limits. Have clear and consistent rules your children can follow.
  • hear them out
  • praise good acts
  • use techniques like facing natural consequences ,taking away previlege,timeouts for discipline

There are different types of parenting style

Authoritarian -Authoritarian parents may use punishments instead of discipline. So rather than teach a child how to make better choices, they're invested in making kids feel sorry for their mistakes.

An authoritative parent - Authoritative parents invest time and energy into preventing behavior problems before they start. They also use positive discipline strategies to reinforce good behavior, like praise and reward systems.

A permissive parent shows lots of affection toward his or her child but provides little discipline. This is a less effective form of parenting.

Uninvolved- Uninvolved parents expect children to raise themselves. They don't devote much time or energy into meeting children's basic needs.
