Positive psychology is the study of good and positive feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. This is a separate and new branch in psychology which deals with the understanding of optimal behavior and better human functioning. Topics like hope, resilience, coping, strength, good character, basic virtues, happiness, self-efficacy, healthy state of mind, and complete well being are covered under this discipline. It is a good discipline to understand the positive side of the human psyche and behavior. For a long period, clinical psychology continued to dominate with the ideas and explanation of mental disorders and other psychopathologies that are not positive to any person, instead any disorder or disease is experienced with negative views. Positive psychology works when there is no psychopathology, it improves the already gained skills, knowledge or strengths. However, being happy, hopeful, resilient, or social is associated with good health, less stress, and a lack of other physical diseases.
