Since childhood, I am having fond of serving humans by any means. As I grew up, this wish changed to become a good practicing nurse.

Everyone knows that any branch of the healthcare system ultimately demands of the current situation. Even though a lot of saturation in this field, these demands for quality of your skills and this develops eventually by practicing. Today's generation not only just want quality skills but also smart working and effective management of the system. This drives me towards the health informatics career option making thousands of career options available for me.

What Exactly is “Health Informatics”?

• Also known as Health Information Systems.
• Deals with the resources, devices, and methods of utilization, their storage, retrieval, and use of information technology to organize and analyze health records in health and medicine.
• You can be certified with Health informatics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Why I choose nursing informatics and how it will help me?

The old concept of Nursing is related only to deal with and handling patients clinically. But today there is an increasing demand for effective and smart working nurses using advanced computer technologies and equipment. This nursing informatics can fulfill all these criteria of nursing demand.

How has this course helped to shape your career path? Please explain thoroughly.

1. Nurses continuously need to monitor patients and are responsible for the care and safety of the patient.
2. For effective performance, they need to be able to access medical histories, medication lists, lab and imaging results, and physician/interdisciplinary team notes using electronic health records to get a complete picture of a patient's clinical status. They can use this information any time whenever a doctor is over another call.
3. This will save both patient and nurses time making the patient more comfortable. It also helps to make decisions efficiently to improve patient care outcomes.

  4. Hard-to-read handwriting and human error caused transcription inaccuracies, which in turn led to medication errors, delays, and omissions are common problems associated with work.

Today, software exists where providers simply click a button, and the right medication, dose, and frequency is selected.

All these factors are intricated in nursing informatics, which is usually demanded by any healthcare organization, made my resume more unique and stronger in comparison to others. Nurses who have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, enjoy working with technology, and enjoy problem-solving and project management make excellent nurse informaticists.

I don't think after doing certification of nursing informatics, you may need any additional educational courses for your career because as mentioned above it fulfills every criterion that is important for effective management of health care.
