ASSOCIATED FACTOR WITH TREATMENT ADHERENCE OF PATIENT DIAGNOSED WITH CHRONIC DISEASE ; RELATIONSHIP WITH HEALTH LITERACY
AIM;- the studies aim to examine the relationship between the health literacy level and the treatment adherence in patient with the chronic disease .
BACKGROUND ;-
Non adherence to treatment and the insufficient health literacy that can cause a decrease in the understanding the treatment methods . , an increase in the medications errors and an increase in the morbidity and mortality rates .
MATERIAL AND METHODS ;-
This cross- sectional study comprised a total of the 200 patients that wwere taking medication for the chronic disease . Data were collected by using an 18 item questionnaire for the sociodemographic and medical characterstics , The Adult health literacy scale and the Morisky medication adherence scale .
RESULT ;- of the patient , 42.5% reported that they were looked 3 or the more medications per day , and 32.0% reported that they didn't haven't know the side effects of these medications ,Odf the patient 39.0% had even low adherence to the treatment .That mean score of the Adult health literacy score was 12.8+/- 4.74 ( min = 2: and max = 21) .A satistically significant positive correlation was found between the Adult health literacy score and morisky medication adherence scale scores ( r= 0.604 : p= 0.001 )
CONCLUSION
This study going to revealed that the patient's adherence to the treatment increased a stheir health literacy has been increased . Thus, it is recommended that the health literacy level of the patient to be raised through effective intervention to be ensure better adherence to the treatment .
