ANS. A. Significance of Hypertension -
Hypertension is also known as the elevated blood pressure that increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and also affects the major organs of the body like kidney, brain, heart, etc. It is the major cause of premature death all over the world and around 1.13 billion people are affected.
Impact of the issue -
One in very four men and one in every five women are suffering from hypertension. the prevalence of the disease is among the mioddle-income countries and the African region is most affected due to this.
ANS. B. Populations impacted most by Hypertension are men (47%) as comnpared to women (43%); Non-hispanic black adults with 54% than Non-hispanic white adults with 46%.
ANS. C. Impact of social and cultural factors on the populations vulnerable to hypertension -
The sociocultural factors include lifestyle habits, diet, less exercise, abdominal obesity, the kind of adverse social environment during childhood and adolescence, less educational achievemnet in females, etc.
ANS. D. The impact of economic factors on hypertension -
Hypertension can be prevented as it is directly associated with lifestyle habits, employement status, income, educational level, wealth and place of residence. All these factors can predict the behaviour of a person but the best factor is educational level because it offers the most stable measure at individual level.
