Expert Solution

Fossil fuels are formed from the fossilized buried remains of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. These are carbon rich and non renewable fuels.80% of world's energy comes from these fossil fuels.Crude oil ,coal and natural gas were examples of fossil fuels.

Concerns of fossil fuels

1.When fossil fuels were used in vehicles and other industries they get burned and release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. This in turn trap heat in the atmosphere and which will contribute to global warming and climate change.

2.When we take underground oil, coal and natural gas , this will create land degradation.Even animals losts their habitats due to this.

3.Mining operations cause water pollution .Also oil spills and leaks during extraction or transportation can pollute drinking water and destroy ocean ecosystem.

4.When fossil fuels were burned , they emit harmful emissions and these emissions were harmful to all living organisms and humans.

5.When fossil fuels were burned , this will cause ocean acidification. This will destroy our ocean wealth.

Alternative for fossil fuels

1.In order to reduce the dependance of fossil fuels , we have to switch to clean renewable energy sources like solar, wind , geothermal and biomass.

2.Improve the energy efficiency of buildings , vehicles , industrial processes, appliances and equipments.

3.Dependance on public transport system instead of using individual vehicles.

What is the energy density of the three fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, oil)? Express your answer in both joules per kg and kilowatt-hours (kwh) per kg. Calculate the CO2 emitted per kwh of energy produced. Rank the three fossil fuels from highest to lowest emission of CO2.

Solar energy is an alternative to fossil fuels for providing electrical power for both homes and businesses. It may be locally produced and used at the same location as the panels, which reduces distribution costs. Large facilities may be located in available space and the power added to the "grid" that distributes electricity. Solar power may be a better choice in rural or undeveloped areas where the grid infrastructure is unreliable or just not there, and it has been discussed...

The main fossil fuels -- coal, natural gas, and crude oil -- are close substitutes in many industrial, commercial, and residential applications, such as for space heating, mechanical energy, electric power generation, and as a petrochemical feedstock. Despite their overlapping end uses and potential for substitution, differing physical characteristics of these fuels affect regional and global markets for them. Please write a few sentences describing how differences in physical characteristics affect regional and global trade for these fossil fuels.

Energy consumed in the US can be classified ascoming from one of three sources: fossil fuels, nuclear power, andrenewable energy. In 2014, the energy from these three sourceswas 80.3, 8.3, and 9.6 quadrillion BTU, respectively. In 2004, thecorresponding amounts were 85.8, 8.2, and 6.1. Write a descriptionof the changes from 2004 to 2014 expressed in these data. Illustrateyour summary with appropriate graphical summaries. Be sure todiscuss both the amounts of energy from each source as well as thepercents.

Consider the markets for fossil fuels (oil, coal, natural gas) and alternative energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal power etc). Due to the current climate change, let's say we desire to have people use less of the fossil fuels (which produce greenhouse gasses that cause global warming) and more of the alternative energy sources. Using the concepts of Supply and Demand, discuss how the government can use policies to shift these curves, and what the results will be on the quantities...
