Intelletual disabilities
Intelallectaual disabilities are disabilities connected with mind which makes people difficult for certain situations like decision making, judgement, problem solving, letc. inaddition to certain routine , activities like communication, learning, etc.
Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008
The main objective of the Act is to stregthen educational resources for colleges and universities which are conducting higher education . It also provides financial assistance to students of intllectual disabilities.
Everyday is a chance to do something different, and there by make some difference. Higher Education Opportnity Act provides people with disabilities as much care and support as they want according to their disability, and there by help them to become independent and more confident with their own abilities.

Independent living
People will get all sort of training to become an independent life by creating a feeling in their innerself that they can do everything like normal people and there they can live an independent life.
Socialisation
Socialisation is a method which can be adopted among the people with intellectual disabilities. When take part in social activities they will engage with various activities along with normal people, which help them to learn more and there by they will become a part of the society unknowingly.
Career development
They can be provided training for doing some jobs which will help them to make a part of their livelyhood, but it will increase their confidence to a maximum level.
In all the above situations the help and support provided by the colleges and universities and the well trained and experienced staffs in such colleges are really deserve appreciation.
Think College is a non- profit organisation, a small innovative programme for students with disabilities who seeks college experience and career path. It helps to improve their skills in daily life activities and become independent and more confident.
In selected community collges in North Carolina we can see offering career focused courses for stdents with disabilities. Coaching self-advocacy, support in exective functions , regular parent communication are all available there.
Cape Fear Community College (CFCC)
Inorder to encourage students to achieve their personal and educational goals studentis are provided all opportunities with proper guidance and close monitoring. They do their maximum to positively engage student retention. Various programmes are arranged to develop students intellectually, emotionally and socially and there by attaining academic success through which real life success.
