What structure prevents backflow of blood within the heart? Name all four of them.
1. Heart: It is a muscular organ situated on the left side of the chest. Heart pumps the blood throughout the through circulatory system. It consists of four chambers, they include right atrium and right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle.
The right side of the heart collects deoxygenated blood from the differents parts of the body to lungs for purification, and the left side of the heart pumps pumps oxygenated blood to the different parts of the body.
Structure which prevents backflow of blood within the heart is known as valves. There are four valves in the heart: Tricuspid and Mitral valve are known as atrioventricular valves, and Pulmonary and Aortic valves are collectively known as semilunar valves.
1. Tricuspid valve: It is between the right atrium and right ventricle.
2. Mitral valve: It is between the leftt atrium and leftt ventricle.
3. Aortic valve: It is between the left ventricle and aorta.
4. Pulmonary valve: It is between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery.
