Nursing science help to improve patient care in many ways
- Nurse recognises the need for change in Physical environment in hospital for better outcome of patient recovery
- Good nutrition provided according to patient need help in better improvement. Eg High protein diet for early healing of wounds, diet to reduce cholesterol thus reducing risk of heart disease, Iron rich diet for anaemic patients etc
- Infection control- By maintaining aseptic technique in every procedure. Hand washing, following principles of microbiology to avoid infection and early patient healing, preventing nosocomial infection, reducing hospital stay, changing invasive lines periodically to prevent infection.
Nurses work with evidence based practice
Evidence based practices helps to identify a better way for caring for the patient and improving patient outcome. Nurses are the one who address crises in hospital setting and help to change the health policy.
Nurses study inequalities that result in health disparity and find different ways to solve them in the community, through continuos research
Documentation of data done help in getting the statistical information needed for change, for the betterment of patient outcome.Nurses are now engaged in research, finding new methods of patient care.
Thus nursing science is improving patient care, giving patient the best treatment through evidence based practice and reducing the hospital stay.
